The State Museum of the Political History of Russia was created on October 9, 1919. The Museum occupies two buildings-mansion of a merchant Vasily Emanuilovich Brandt and mansion, former property of Prima-ballerina of the Mariinsky Theater Mathilda Felixovna Kshesinskay. Museum has two branches. Nowadays, at museum 8 expositions, devoted to the history of Russia in the 19-20th centuries, opened for visitors, devoted to the history of Russia in the 19-20th centuries.
